The Global Tropics Futures Young Scholars program is not a school or place but a community of likeminded learners who want to enrich their knowledge, skills and collaborate with others in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The Global Tropics Futures Young Scholars is a portal for creating this like-minded cohort and sense of belonging, delivering innovative and enhanced learning opportunities.
As Global Tropics Futures Young Scholars come from all over North Queensland we harness the digital world to empower students who have never met to share information and collaborate.
We use a virtual environment to provide access to learning which is authentic and current and enable students to link with university researchers and industry leaders.
Through combining face to face and virtual worlds, as a Global Tropics Futures Young Scholars community, we will explore together new learning possibilities which are:
- engaging
- efficient and easy to access
- steeped in real life STEM problem solving
- challenging and involve deep learning.
With
James Cook University as our key partner a Global Tropics Futures Young Scholars will have access to exciting opportunities associated with one of the world's leading universities.
